Cheryl qualified from The Manchester School of Physiotherapy in 1998 with an Honours degree. Throughout school and college, she had a passion for exercise being a dedicated member of a local athletics club. During this time, she became North East Counties Under17 Javelin Champion and Silver medallist in the Northern Championships as an Under 20. With this background of exercise and a keen interest in human biology she decided to pursue a career in Physiotherapy. Prior to joining Body2Fit she worked as an Extended Scope Physiotherapist/Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in the NHS for 10 years where she developed advanced assessment and diagnostic skills in order to best manage patients with musculoskeletal problems. She has also worked in private practice for approximately 15 years which included running a successful practice in Whitby treating a variety of clients from fishermen to runners to farmers.

She is a member of The Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) having first trained in the use of Acupuncture for pain relief in 1998. She has also been a McKenzie Institute Credentialed Practitioner since 2001 and in 2008 she completed training to become a Bowen Therapist which has been an invaluable tool in the treatment of many clients with a variety of problems.

Being an active mum of two young boys she developed a special interest in treatment and exercise during and following pregnancy, and completed a specific ‘Fit backs and bumps’ training in relation to this speciality in 2012. With this qualification, Cheryl can help mums-to-be and those post-natal in the maintenance and restoration of healthy posture and core strength.
