Therapeutic Acupuncture Treatment
Acupuncture is one of the many skills used within physiotherapy as an integrated approach to the management of pain and inflammation and as a means of stimulating the body’s own healing chemicals to aid recovery and enhance rehabilitation.
Various scientific evidence exists which proves the benefits of acupuncture as a treatment for pain. It can be used for:
- Headaches and migraines
- Neck pain
- Low Back pain
- Musculoskeletal pain – ie pain arising from joints, soft-tissue (muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia)
- Sports injuries
- Post-operative pain
Acupuncture can also be used in the treatment of other medical conditions which are listed by The British Acupuncture Council. Our resident acupuncturist, Sharon Cawthorne, provides a comprehensive assessment and treatment service. Sharon also offers a wide range of holistic therapies including:
- Clinical Hypnotherapy
- Acupressure Massage and Chinese Cupping Therapy
- Reiki
Cosmetic Acupuncture
Sharon is one of few practitioners who are qualified to offer cosmetic acupuncture. The Chinese use points on the face to combat the signs of ageing and to help with various skin conditions. Unlike BOTOX®, which carries many possible side effects, this is a totally natural and holistic anti-ageing treatment that aims to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Patients often report that they feel healthier, sleep better, have brighter eyes and feel more balanced. This is also known as facial acupuncture which is endorsed by many celebrities.
